I grow my flowers in a small domestic cutting garden in South Queensferry. I prefer a wild, loose style of floral arrangement and grow varieties that fit with this approach, from lovely cottage garden classics like cornflowers, sweet peas and scabious to showier centrepiece blooms, like dahlias and double tulips.
I use the most environmentally sustainable growing methods possible: no chemicals and pesticides (with the occasional exception of organically certified slug pellets that don’t harm bird populations), reducing and reusing plastics and using rainwater as much as possible. I don’t use plastic packaging on my arrangements and always seek out peat-free growing mediums.
As our growing area is very small (if you have land locally that’s going spare you’d like to see used for cut flower production please get in touch!) I occasionally need to buy in blooms from elsewhere, especially for weddings and events. My priority is always to buy from other British growers via my fellow Flowers from the Farm members. If I need to order in flowers externally for your event I’ll aim to discuss this with you when you place your order.
